MECKLERMEDIA NAMES VENDITTO EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF INTERNET.COM

(Westport, CT--January 29, 1998) -- Mecklermedia Corporation (Nasdaq:MECK) today announced that Gus Venditto has been appointed editor-in-chief of its Internet.com Web publishing unit. In this newly created position, Venditto is responsible for all editorial operations of the 16 Web sites that make up Internet.com.

"Having Gus Venditto in this vital role will enhance Internet.com's position as the authority for information about the Internet for developers, industry professionals and sophisticated Internet users," said Chris Elwell, vice president and general manager of Internet.com. The editors of Ziff-Davis' PC Magazine selected four Internet.com sites in their "Today's 100 Best Sites' cover story February 10, 1998. Internet.com was second only to Microsoft for the largest percentage of winners in all categories owned by a single company in the PC Magazine list. In addition, five Internet.com sites were named to the annual "Best of the Web" list by CMP Media�s HomePC magazine last month.

Mr. Venditto is the author of seven books and more than 300 magazine articles, and has appeared on CNN, "The Wall Street Journal Report," and numerous radio shows.
